Embark on a transformative Mindfulness Retreat tour in Bhutan, where serene landscapes and ancient monasteries provide the perfect backdrop for inner reflection. Led by experienced guides, immerse yourself in meditation, contemplation, and the teachings of mindfulness amidst the peaceful ambiance of the Himalayas.

Experience a life-changing Mindfulness Retreat Program led by Lama Lhawang Dorji Tamang in Bhutan. Deepen your practice amidst serene landscapes, ancient wisdom, and personalized guidance from the esteemed Lama. Discover inner peace and mindfulness in the heart of the Himalayas.
Lama Lhawang Dorji Tamang Rinpoche, head of Tsholinghar Buddhist Monastery, holds titles Khenpo and Lama bestowed by Bhutan's Jey Khenpo. Mandated to spread Buddha's teachings in southern Bhutan and beyond, he's mastered Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions through extensive listening, contemplation, and meditation. A fully ordained monk, he's deeply learned in Buddhist philosophy under esteemed teachers like His Holiness Je Khenpo, His Eminence Tsugla Lopen Rinpoche, Letsho Lopen Rinpoche, and His Eminence Drabi Lopen Sangay Dorji Rinpoche. Additionally, His Eminence Khen Rinpoche Sangay's teachings enrich his spiritual journey.

Mindfulness-Retreat in Bhutan

Day 1: Arrive at Paro airport, then drive to Thimphu.

Visiting Budha Point in Thimphu offers stunning views of the city, especially if time permits upon your arrival.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing

In Thimphu, visitors can explore various cultural attractions, including the National Textile Museum, which showcases Bhutan's textile heritage and supports women's empowerment. The Centenary Farmer’s Market offers a vibrant display of local agricultural products every weekend, while the Post Office Museum commemorates Bhutan's progress with customized stamps. At the Jungzhi Paper Factory, traditional paper-making using Daphne and Dhekap tree barks is demonstrated. Finally, the iconic Buddha Point boasts a majestic 169-foot bronze statue of Budha Dordenma, offering panoramic views of the Thimphu valley, particularly enchanting at night.

Day 3: Drive to Tsirang (approximately 6 hours, 160 km).

Tsirang, a newly accessible district for tourists post-COVID-19, welcomes visitors year-round except during the hot and humid summer months. Starting after breakfast, our journey eastward takes us through Dochula Pass at 3100 meters, where we pause for breathtaking views and photo opportunities. Continuing along the scenic Punatshangchu River, the drive offers glimpses of majestic mountains and landscapes. Upon arrival in Damphu town, weary travelers can unwind at the comfortable Damphu resort for the night, rejuvenating for further exploration ahead.

Day 4: Damphu sightseeing

Your itinerary for Tsirang offers a rich cultural and spiritual experience. Exploring Tsirang Dara, Tsirang town, and the RRA Training Centre allows for an insightful journey into local life and traditions. The highlight of the day is the meeting with Rinpoche Lhawang D Tamang, a revered religious teacher. After lunch, check in at the Lhakhang Guest House, providing simple yet comfortable accommodation immersed in spiritual ambiance.
In the evening, gather for dinner followed by a conversation with Rinpoche. This intimate exchange offers valuable insights into the local culture and the schedule for the following day's activities. Rinpoche's wisdom and guidance enhance the spiritual journey, creating memorable experiences for visitors in the serene setting of Tsirang.
Overnight in the Lama's Temple Guest House.

Note:
It's important to understand that the schedule involving the Lama and staying at the Lhakhang should be arranged in advance. As the Lama is a government-appointed figure, there might be occasions when he is called for meetings or other religious programs on short notice. Therefore, flexibility is key, and we must be prepared to adjust the temple visit and accommodation plans if necessary due to unforeseen changes in the Lama's schedule. While we strive to adhere to the agreed-upon program, we acknowledge that circumstances beyond our control may require modifications. Rest assured, we will make every effort to ensure a meaningful and fulfilling experience while respecting any adjustments needed to accommodate the Lama's commitments.

Day 5: In and around Damphu (Tsirang).

In the morning, prior to breakfast, engage in a "mindfulness" session at the temple led by the Lama and the monks. Receive guidance on meditation, breathing techniques, and discussions on mindfulness. After breakfast, explore the religious sites and village houses surrounding the temple. In the evening, if interested, participate in a meaningful conversation with the Lama, followed by a question-and-answer session. This offers an opportunity for deeper insights and reflections on various topics.
Overnight in the Lama's Temple Guest House.

Day 6: Drive to Punakha

After breakfast at the guest house, we embark on a scenic three-hour drive to Punakha, following the course of the Punatshangchu River. Upon arrival, we visit the renowned Punakha Dzong, a majestic fortress that serves as the winter residence of Je Khenpo, the religious head of Bhutan.
Overnight in hotel.

Day 7: Punakha to Paro (4 hours, 130 kms)

In the morning, we head north of the valley to visit the stupa constructed by the current king. Starting from the parking lot beside the riverside, we embark on a 45-minute hike, crossing the river through picturesque paddy fields and dense forests. Upon reaching the stupa, we are greeted by breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, with the Punatshangchu River winding below like a graceful snake. Your guide may also recommend a delightful stroll through the nearby villages, passing through scenic paddy fields and riverside forests, offering a serene and immersive experience.
Overnight in hotel.

Day 8: Paro Sightseeing

By now, we are well-acclimatized to embark on the iconic hike to the revered Tiger's Nest monastery, one of Bhutan's most renowned sites and recently recognized as one of the world's ten holiest places. Perched dramatically on a high cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley floor, it derives its name from Guru Rinpoche, who is said to have arrived here on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. The five-hour trek to the monastery involves a challenging yet spiritually rewarding ascent of 900 meters, purifying both the soul and the body.
In the afternoon, time permitting, you can explore Ta Dzong, a national museum housed in a former watchtower. Other sights on the agenda include the historic Drukgyal Dzong and the 7th-century Kichu Temple, offering further insights into Bhutan's rich cultural and religious heritage.
Overnight in a hotel.

Day 9: Departure

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed to the Paro International Airport for your departure flight. Alternatively, if you are departing by land transfer, arrangements will be made from Phuntsholing or another designated exit point.
