INTRODUCTION

Nepal's Homestay tours offer an immersive and authentic experience, allowing travelers to intimately connect with the culture, traditions, and daily life of Nepali communities. On these tours, visitors have the unique opportunity to reside with local families in traditional homes, sharing meals, stories, and customs while gaining invaluable insights into the rich tapestry of Nepali life.

The essence of Nepal's homestay tours lies in the warmth and hospitality extended by the host families. From the moment travelers step foot into their humble abodes, they are enveloped in a welcoming embrace that transcends language barriers and cultural differences. Guests are treated as honored members of the household, and invited to participate in daily activities such as cooking traditional meals, tending to crops in the fields, or engaging in age-old rituals and ceremonies.

One of the most enriching aspects of homestay tours is the opportunity for cultural exchange. As guests immerse themselves in the rhythms of village life, they forge meaningful connections with their hosts, learning about Nepali customs, beliefs, and traditions firsthand. Whether it's sharing stories around the hearth, joining in festive celebrations, or participating in traditional dances, travelers gain a profound appreciation for the vibrant tapestry of Nepali culture.

Beyond the confines of the home, homestay tours offer a gateway to exploring the breathtaking natural beauty that Nepal is renowned for. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, from lush terraced fields to towering Himalayan peaks, these villages provide a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Guided hikes through verdant forests, visits to nearby monasteries and temples, and encounters with local artisans offer glimpses into the diverse tapestry of Nepal's cultural and natural heritage.

At the heart of Nepal's homestay tours lies the spirit of community and connection. As travelers bid farewell to their hosts and embark on their onward journeys, they carry with them not only cherished memories but also a deeper understanding of the shared bonds that unite us all, transcending borders and cultures.

Day 2: Explore Kathmandu

Today’s sightseeing includes Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath Stupas. Kathmandu Durbar Square is a complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples built between the 12th and 18th centuries, and used to be the seat of the medieval Malla Kings of Kathmandu. This is a UNESCO-protected world heritage site. Swayambhunath Stupa watches over the valley from a height of 75 m above the average level of Kathmandu. This is one of the holiest Buddhist shrines in Nepal, and its establishment is linked with the creation of Kathmandu Valley out of a primordial lake. This stupa, which is believed to be more than 2000 years old, is also a UNESCO-enlisted World Heritage site. Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world. The Chronicles indicate the existence of the shrine before 400 AD. The shrine lies on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River. The Bagmati riverbanks also serve as cremation sites for the Hindus. The Bagmati River in Nepal is considered as holy as the Ganges in India. Boudhanath Stupa is the biggest stupa of this kind in the world. This is also a UNESCO enlisted World Heritage Site. Boudhanath Stupa and its surroundings have kept the Tibetan culture alive. There are more than 45 Buddhist monasteries dedicated to different sects of Tibetan Buddhism in the vicinity of Boudhanth Stupa.

Day 3: Dulikhel, Namo Buddha and Balthali

Dulikhel, Namo Buddha and Balthali
It takes about four hours to reach Dhulikhel. Walk up to the Namo Buddha (1982m), situated on a hill above Panauti. There is an amazing legend related to the Buddha, which is commemorated by an ancient stone slab and a stupa with the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. Next, walk another three hours and reach the enchanting Balthali village, offering excellent mountain views at an altitude of 1,730m. Welcome drinks will be served with light snacks. In the evening, enjoy a bonfire with snacks and local wine made by the villagers. Balthali village is a very simple, yet comfortable, unconventional retreat center with modern amenities of western-style toilets and attached bathrooms with tasty Nepalese traditional food. You can find friendly, hospitable, and smiling local staff. Overnight in Balthali.

Day 4: Balthali Village

Balthali Village
Today you will visit a typical Tamang village, Dada Gaun, where a Buddhist community lives. Then we walk to PadaGaun (2100 m), from where one can have extremely good views of the whole Himalayan range to the north and the beautiful green forest of Mahabharat. Here, people and animals live side by side. It is very traditional and secluded from the modern world. Then walk on to Karnali, a hamlet of nature, and follow the banks of the Ladku River.
Overnight in Balthali

Day 5: Balthali Panauti, Kathmandu

Balthali Panauti, Kathmandu
We continue our journey to the typical Newari village of Panauti. This is a traditional Newar settlement with a rural character and rich culture, with a large number of fascinating temples. Panauti is wedged between the Punyamata and Roshi streams. Panauti forms the shape of a triangle with a serpent (naga) idol standing at each of its three corners to protect it from floods. Explore the Panauti Valley, which is also historically important. Having taken about six hours on foot, we drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, you can have an opportunity to visit an interesting wooden temple which dates back to the fourteenth century.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
